    What is CPC Training?

CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) training is typically required for drivers of hire or reward vehicles, such as lorries, buses, and coaches. Requirements vary by country and vehicle type. In the UK, LGV and PCV drivers often need CPC training to maintain their professional qualifications and legal eligibility for commercial driving.

It is provided by a driver CPC training school and includes periodic training sessions. Completing CPC training earns you a driver qualification card, indicating that you have achieved the full driver CPC status, a certification recognised for those who drive professionally.

Why is Driver CPC Training important?

CPC training is essential legal requirement for professional drivers. It helps you follow the law, drive safely, and advance your career. Getting CPC certification opens doors to better jobs and safer driving. Ensuring that you schedule and complete your Driver CPC training within a five-year period is essential.

Failing to hold a valid CPC is a violation of regulations and may result in fines of up to £1000 for both the driver and the company. Drivers who obtained their relevant vocational licence (D, D1, D+E, D1+E for bus and coach drivers, and C, C1, C+E, C1+E for lorry drivers) before September 10, 2008 (PCV) or September 10, 2009 (LGV) do not need to take the initial qualification, but they must complete periodic training to maintain their Driver CPC training.
