Role Purpose

Provide safe and efficient unloading, sorting and movement of mail and parcels within Royal Mail operations, helping to maintain a smooth flow of items through the warehouse and onward network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Unload incoming mail and parcels safely and efficiently
  • Sort items accurately by postcode and route
  • Move mail and parcels through the warehouse operation
  • Work to throughput targets while maintaining accuracy
  • Follow health and safety, security and data handling standards at all times
  • Support the wider team to keep operations running smoothly throughout the shift

Skills and Experience

  • Strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
  • Good level of physical fitness
  • Able to push trolleys up to 250kg
  • Able to lift items up to 11kg
  • Comfortable standing for long periods
  • Reliable, safety-conscious and able to follow process accurately

Shift Options

Royal Mail operates across a 24-hour schedule, so shift patterns can vary depending on site and demand. Available shifts may include:

  • Early: 05:00 to 14:00
  • Late: 14:00 to 22:00
  • Night: 22:00 to 05:00
  • Shift length: Typically between 4 and 12 hours
  • Days: Monday to Sunday

Safety and Support

You will receive a full health and safety induction before starting work. Manual handling training will also be provided, and relevant PPE will be issued where needed. Workers should wear closed, sturdy shoes for this role.
