Gi Group has launched a new worker app and enhanced AI chatbot as part of its ongoing digital transformation.
The new technology improves the recruitment experience for candidates, workers and clients. It also supports Gi Group’s wider focus on making each stage of the recruitment journey smoother, faster and easier to manage.
Together, the worker app and chatbot give users more flexibility, clearer communication and better access to key recruitment services.
Making the worker experience simpler
The new Gi Group worker app streamlines and digitises the candidate journey.
Through the app, workers can register with Gi Group, browse and accept shifts, manage timesheets, request holidays and access payroll features. They can do this through one simple interface, with minimal clicks.
As a result, workers have more control over how they engage with Gi Group and manage their working lives.
Gi Group will continue to support non-digital users by phone and text. However, the app should reduce reliance on these slower methods for digital-native candidates and workers.
Supporting Gi Group’s year of transformation
Martin Gunn, IT Director at Gi Group, said the launch reflects the business’s wider commitment to improving accessibility and efficiency.
It also supports Gi Group’s year of transformation, which centres on the business’s commitment to going “Beyond”. This strategy responds to the changing labour market with a skills-first model that combines technology and sector expertise.

Martin said:
“The launch of our best-in-class worker app is a key development for our business, customers and the candidates we serve.
“We’re creating a more seamless, user-friendly experience that empowers candidates to manage their working lives without friction.
“At the same time, it enables our teams to operate more efficiently.”
Future multilingual support
A major focus for the app’s future development is multilingual capability.
This reflects the diverse workforces that Gi Group supports across the UK. Although the app does not yet include additional languages, Gi Group has already completed early pilot work with Romanian speakers.
The company now plans to expand this capability to include up to 10 different languages.
In turn, this will help more workers access recruitment support in a way that feels clear, simple and inclusive.
Improving candidate engagement with AI
Alongside the new app, Gi Group has expanded its use of artificial intelligence through an enhanced chatbot.
The chatbot first launched as a pilot in December 2024. At first, Gi Group introduced it to help increase application volumes.
Since then, the chatbot has delivered strong results. Around 70% of candidates who engaged with the chatbot and passed pre-qualification went on to submit a job application.
This shows how effectively the chatbot can guide candidates through the early stages of the recruitment process.
In addition, the chatbot has proved valuable outside standard working hours. It helps maintain candidate engagement overnight, when recruitment teams may not be available.
Building stronger candidate profiles
Zak Harper, Marketing Director at Gi Group, played a key role in developing the chatbot’s functionality.
He said the next phase will focus on improving candidate quality, as well as volume.

Zak said:
“The chatbot has already shown its ability to drive applications.
“However, we’re now evolving its role at pace to encourage candidates to enrich their profiles.
“This helps us identify the right people fast, reduces reliance on paid advertising, and ultimately builds a stronger, more engaged talent pool.”
A wider technology rollout
The worker app and enhanced AI chatbot form part of a wider programme of technology rollouts across Gi Group.
In recent months, the business has also introduced a client portal and workplace management system. These tools support employers, improve visibility and create a more connected recruitment process.
Together, these developments show how Gi Group is using technology to improve the experience for candidates, workers and clients.
By combining digital tools with recruitment expertise, Gi Group is making the hiring journey more efficient, accessible and responsive to the needs of the modern labour market.
