Job Title: Kiln Car Repairer
Location: Aldridge, Walsall
Pay: £13.50 per hour (negotiable, depending on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day (flexible start/finish between 6:00am-4:00pm)
Contract: Ongoing / long-term opportunity
The Role
We're looking for a Kiln Car Repairer to join a busy manufacturing site in Aldridge, Walsall. This is a hands-on, physical role where you'll be responsible for stripping down, cleaning, repairing and rebuilding kiln cars to keep production running smoothly and safely.
Kiln cars are large and heavy-duty, capable of holding up to 20,000 bricks at one time, so attention to detail, safe working practices and the ability to work efficiently are key.
Key Responsibilities
- Using small hand tools to take apart kiln cars and access damaged or worn components
- Hoovering/cleaning kiln cars thoroughly before and after maintenance
- Repairing or replacing parts in a timely manner to minimise downtime
- Reassembling kiln cars correctly and safely, ensuring they're ready for use
- Manual handling as part of the role, including lifting up to 25kg
What We're Looking For
- Experience in a hands-on repair / maintenance / mechanical environment (kiln car experience is beneficial but not essential)
- Confident using basic hand tools and working to practical instructions
- Able to work at pace while maintaining quality and safety standards
- Comfortable with physical work and manual handling (up to 25kg)
- Reliable, punctual and able to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team
