Laboratory Assistant at Glasgow

Lab Assistant (Saturdays Only)

Location: G52 4LT, Hillington (Glasgow)

Hours: 7 hours every Saturday (weekly)

Pay: £12.71 per hour

Contract: Long-term temporary

The role:

We're recruiting a Lab Assistant to support the National Milk Records (NMR) laboratory team in Glasgow. This is a great opportunity for someone looking for steady Saturday-only work in a clean, process-driven lab environment, supporting essential milk testing services.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, sort and organise incoming samples for testing
• Accurately log samples and complete basic data entry / record keeping
• Prepare samples for laboratory analysis in line with site procedures
• Operate basic laboratory equipment and follow set testing workflows (training provided)
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness across benches, equipment and work areas
• Support stock control (e.g., checking/rotating consumables, flagging low supplies)
• Follow all health & safety, hygiene and quality procedures at all times

What we're looking for

• Reliable and able to commit to every Saturday on a long-term basis
• Strong attention to detail and comfort working to clear processes
• Basic IT confidence (data entry / logging)
• Able to work efficiently in a busy environment (standing/walking and manual handling of sample trays may be involved)
• Any lab/production/quality environment experience is beneficial, but not essential
