Material Handler (Goods In)

Heysham (LA3)

£13.20 per hour

Monday-Friday, 08:00-16:00

37.5 hours per week

12-month assignment

Gi Group are recruiting on behalf of a global life sciences company providing products and services used across scientific research, healthcare, and industrial laboratories. We're looking for a Material Handler I to join the Goods In Department at their Heysham (LA3) site.

Material Handle Role

You'll support a busy Goods In and warehouse operation, ensuring materials are received, stored, picked and shipped accurately and in line with site procedures and transport regulations.

What's on offer:

  • £13.20 per hour
  • Stable Monday-Friday shift pattern (08:00-16:00)

Material Handler Key responsibilities:

  • Receive and unpack deliveries and book in goods accurately using JD Edwards (JDE), completing relevant system transactions.
  • Locate bulk and pre-pack items to the correct hazard warehouses.
  • Pick stock for repack orders from onsite warehouses and return bulk returns to the correct store locations.
  • Complete cycle counts in line with work instructions.
  • Investigate and resolve Not on Location (NOL) / missing items.
  • Follow all packing and labelling instructions to comply with transport regulations.
  • Support export shipment collation, ensuring loads are accurate and paperwork is completed correctly.
  • Use third-party systems such as courier platforms and access documentation such as MSDS.
  • Handle fine chemicals (bulk or prepacks) in line with CEM (Chemical Exposure Management) regulations, following instructions without deviation.
  • Maintain stock levels of consumables and follow requisition procedures.
  • Operate equipment you are trained on and report any defects/issues to the Team Leader/Manager.
  • Maintain accurate records and paperwork.
  • Ensure full compliance with site security, environmental, quality (EMS/QMS) and health & safety requirements.
  • Support other duties within your skills and abilities as required.

Material Handler Preferred skills and experience:

  • Basic computer skills
  • Strong teamwork and communication
  • Previous experience in a warehouse / goods in-out / materials handling environment
