Visual Inspector

Location: Swindon, SN3

Contract: 12 months

Shift: Monday - Friday, 37.5 hours per week

Pay rate: £13.86 per hour + 22% shift allowance

The Visual Inspector is responsible for carrying out manual visual inspection of filled vials to ensure product quality and compliance with GMP standards. You will identify and remove defective units based on defined inspection criteria, ensuring only compliant product progresses to the next stage of production or distribution.

Visual Inspector Shifts & Pay:

  • Monday to Friday
  • 07:00-15:00 or 15:00-23:00
  • £16.90 per hour (£13.86 per hour + 22% shift allowance)

Visual Inspector Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform manual visual inspection of filled vials under controlled conditions (e.g., correct lighting, background and inspection booth set-up).
  • Detect and reject vials with visible defects, including (but not limited to): Particulate matter (visible particles), cosmetic defects, volume issues and container safety
  • Follow approved SOPs, batch records and inspection procedures.
  • Work in line with GMP, GDP (Good Documentation Practice) and Data Integrity principles.
  • Maintain focus and consistency during inspection to ensure reliable outcomes.
  • Correctly segregate accepted vs rejected units.
  • Accurately document inspection results and complete all required records to a high standard.
  • Escalate abnormalities, trends or concerns to supervision in a timely manner.
  • Participate in qualification/requalification activities and periodic vision checks.
  • Support continuous improvement and training activities as required.

Visual Inspector Skills & experience:

Essential

  • Ability to maintain high concentration for extended periods.
  • Good visual acuity (with or without correction) and ability to pass a visual check.
  • Basic understanding of GMP/GDP/Data Integrity.
  • Strong attention to detail and consistency.
  • GCSE-level Maths and English (or equivalent).

Desirable

  • Experience in pharmaceutical, food, or other regulated production environments.
  • Self-driven and able to work reliably in a structured, quality-focused setting.
