Gi Group are pleased to announce that we will be supporting the government’s flagship Kickstart Scheme.

The Kickstart Scheme aims to provide young people with that important first step up onto the career ladder through the creation of six month job placements. These placements provide young people with the opportunity to gain essential job related experience to help drive their careers forward.

Focused towards young people aged between 16 and 24, who are ready to engage in the world of work, the Kickstart scheme enables young people to gain employment for a minimum of 25 hours a week over a 6 month period.

In total, Gi Group will be recruiting 42 Kickstarters over the next 6 months to the business across important functions including Finance, HR and Recruitment. Each Kickstarter will be employed for a period of 6 months for 25 hours per week and will also be supported by Gi Group’s Apprenticeship team who will provide Kickstarters with additional access to learning sessions as well as career advice and guidance during their employment.

Commenting on Gi Group’s involvement in the Kickstart Scheme, Paul Smith, Managing Director Operations, said “Youth unemployment has been hit hard during the pandemic and we feel that it is only right that businesses look at how they can remedy this by putting young people into jobs that offer them genuine experience and development opportunities. We are really proud to be able to support the Government’s Kickstart Scheme and know that we will also benefit through an injection of new ideas and creativity that these individuals will bring.”

Paulo Canoa, CEO of Gi Group in the UK & Ireland explained “As a values driven company we have a very clear goal, to promote the personal and social value of work. Every employee understands that what we do makes a real difference, it changes lives and to be able to support young people with essential job related experience through these job placements, at such a difficult time, is something we are take great pride in.”

In addition to the 6 months job placement, other benefits of the Kickstart Scheme includes:
