The latest ONS fixtures on vacancies begin to show the scale of the impact which Covid-19 will have on individuals looking for work, with fewer currently available than ever previously recorded.
However, despite the significant challenges faced, there are still roles available as many industries have actually seen increased business as a result of the changing market conditions, buying patterns and consumer habits dictated by the nationwide lockdown and subsequent restrictions.
Commenting on the latest data, Gi Group UK’s CEO Paulo Canoa explains “With the rapid shift from a candidate driven market to one with far greater competition for each role, candidates must be more responsive and flexible – identifying those sectors which may be flourishing rather than suffering as a result of the pandemic.
As a specialist staffing provider to the e-commerce, logistics and food production sectors we have seen growth in these markets first hand. New sectors and opportunities have also emerged, such as the widescale manufacture of PPE, sanitiser and other safety products borne out of Covid-19 – with greater opportunities in these areas than ever before.”
