The ONS employment figures on the UK Labour Market released this month again reflect a bouyant market with the UK unemployment rate estimated at 3.8% – as low as it has been since October to December 1974. Furthermore, the number of vacancies has fallen by 19,000 since the previous quarter, a continuing trend in 2019.

Responding to the latest figures, Gi Group UK & Ireland’s CEO Bev White commented: “While overall employment market statistics continue to paint a positive picture, interestingly the number of vacancies has fallen. However, despite this fall, it remains the case that many organisations we speak to are continuing to find it difficult to recruit due to the lack of available labour.”
