A great opportunity has arisen for an experienced and driven Shift Manager to join a fast‑paced food manufacturing operation in Bolton. This role is ideal for a strong leader who thrives in a hands‑on environment and is passionate about safety, quality, people development, and continuous improvement.

We have two positions available, one to work PM shift 2pm-10pm, and the other to work NIGHT shift 10pm-6am, both Monday to Friday.

About the Role

You will lead and develop manufacturing teams across the shift, ensuring the shift runs safely, efficiently, and effectively. You'll play a key role in driving performance, maintaining high standards, and supporting a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring full compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental standards, promoting a proactive safety culture.
  • Maintaining Food Safety & Quality standards, ensuring all products meet required specifications and documentation is completed accurately.
  • Managing labour, materials, waste, and other controllable costs to meet budget targets.
  • Leading, coaching, and developing Shift and Team Managers, supporting training, succession planning, and engagement across the shift.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance performance across all business pillars.
  • Upholding high hygiene and GMP standards, ensuring the site is audit‑ready at all times.
  • Monitoring and improving KPIs across efficiency, waste, and overall plant performance.

  • Ability to think strategically and work independently.
  • Excellent planning, organisation, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Confidence working with systems such as MS Office and SAP.

  • Flexibility to meet the demands of a busy 24‑hour operation.
