EMC TEST ENGINEER / TECHNICIAN

You’ll be part of a specialist EMC team delivering compliance testing for new and innovative products across a wide range of industries. This role is firmly focused on EMC compliance testing — not product design or RF development — giving you ownership of projects from initial setup through to final reporting.


What you’ll be doing

•           Delivering EMC testing in screened enclosures and in-situ environments

•           Taking ownership of EMC test projects and accurate delivery of results

•           Supporting customers before and during test programmes, including managing issues during failure phases

•           Maintaining test data and electronic logbooks

•           Generating test procedures, plans and reports, including photos and measurement uncertainty

•           Contributing to EMC test method, equipment and capability development

•           Supporting validation of client requirements, including occasional site visits

•           Providing technical input to support quotation and sales activities

•           Developing specialist EMC expertise (e.g. rail, marine or radio EMC standards)

•           Supporting training and knowledge sharing within the team


Working pattern

•           Initial training: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm (37 hours)

•           Post-training: rotating shift pattern (every two weeks):

o           Shift 1: Mon–Thu 8:00am–4:30pm, Fri 8:00am–4:00pm

o           Shift 2: Mon–Thu 4:00pm–12:30am, Fri 4:00pm–12:00am


Essential criteria

•           Experience as an EMC Test Engineer within a test house environment

•           Demonstrable knowledge of the EMC Directive and relevant EMC standards

•           Practical experience using EMC test equipment such as spectrum/network analysers, oscilloscopes and signal generators

•           Self-motivated, enthusiastic and keen to develop technical skills

•           Willingness to work shifts and overtime when required


Highly desirable

•           Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and bespoke test systems


Desirable

•           Electronics-based engineering experience

•           Comfortable working in a customer-facing role

•           Strong written and verbal communication skills
