Job Title: Mechanical Fitter
Location: Cramlington
Reports to: Engineering Manager

Temp role 3 month ongoing contract, £18.00 per hour PAYE, immediate start

Key Responsibilities:
Assembly & Installation:
* Assemble and install mechanical components and systems according to technical drawings and specifications.
* Ensure equipment is set up and aligned correctly.
* Conduct visual inspections to ensure installation complies with quality standards.
Maintenance & Repairs:
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on machinery and mechanical systems.
* Troubleshoot and diagnose faults in mechanical equipment, using tools and diagnostic equipment.
* Replace or repair defective parts and components.
Testing & Commissioning:
* Conduct functional tests to ensure that equipment is running smoothly and meets performance standards.
* Perform adjustments or fine-tuning of machinery and systems where required.
Safety & Compliance:
* Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
* Report any hazards or safety concerns immediately to the supervisor.
* Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs.
Tool & Equipment Use:
* Use hand and power tools, welding equipment, and other machinery as required to complete tasks.
* Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.

Key Requirements:
Qualifications & Experience:
* Relevant qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering, City & Guilds, or equivalent or time served).
* Proven experience working as a Mechanical Fitter or in a similar mechanical engineering role.
* Familiarity with working on large machinery and complex mechanical systems.
Technical Skills:
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
* Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and mechanical testing equipment.
* Experience in fault-finding and problem-solving in mechanical systems.
Desirable:
* Welding or fabrication experience.
* Experience in a particular industry (manufacturing, construction, marine power generation).
