Maintenance Team Leader
Location: Lichfield
Salary: Circa £56,000
Shifts: Panama (12‑hour shifts, rotating days & nights)
Are you an experienced Maintenance Engineer ready to take the next step into leadership, or a current Team Leader looking for a fresh challenge? This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a small engineering team, drive performance, and play a key role in keeping a fast‑paced manufacturing site running efficiently.
The Role
As Maintenance Engineering Team Leader, you’ll oversee a shift team of Maintenance Engineers while remaining hands‑on with day‑to‑day engineering tasks. You’ll ensure equipment remains reliable, downtime is minimised, and safety standards are consistently maintained.
You’ll work closely with the Maintenance Manager, support continuous improvement initiatives, and help push forward engineering innovation across the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate, and support a team of Engineers
- Carry out both preventative and reactive maintenance across production equipment
- Respond quickly to breakdowns to reduce downtime
- Conduct repairs, testing, and site start‑up procedures
- Uphold high standards in hygiene, safety, compliance, and engineering best practice
- Support the development of preventative maintenance strategies and improvements
What You’ll Need
- Proven experience in a leadership or team‑leading capacity
- Strong hands‑on engineering background—ideally gained in a manufacturing environment
- Multi‑skilled: solid mechanical and electrical capabilities
- Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, PC/inverter-driven equipment (desirable)
- Relevant engineering qualifications (minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of PPM, planned maintenance, and process improvement
