Our Client based in Newbury, who have been established for over 25 years are the leading processor and recycler of WEEE waste in the UK are looking for an Operations Manager on a permanent full time basis due to continuous business growth.
Salary & Benefits
* Competitive salary - £45,000 - £55,000 DOE
* Monday to Friday - 07:00 to 17:00, Saturday - Every other Saturday worked

Duties & Responsibilities
* Provide strategic leadership across all recycling and waste processing sites
* Take full accountability for operational, financial, safety, and environmental performance regardless of if you are scheduled to work on the day (Point of contact).
* Lead, mentor, and develop the senior management team - including Supervisors, Managers, and Maintenance teams to deliver company objectives
* Monitor incoming and outgoing loads, track processing line performance and recycling rates, compile data, and produce detailed reports
* Oversee the management of company infrastructure, transfer stations, and processing equipment
Champion Health & Safety:
* Establish policies and expectations that promote a safety first culture
* Ensure consistent application of H&S procedures across all sites
* Review and approve risk assessments, safe systems of work, and training plans
Oversee People Management:
* Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention activities
* Set clear standards for performance and behaviour
* Lead on senior-level performance management and disciplinary matters
Monitor and Control Budgets:
* Oversee site P&L, cost centres, and operational expenditure
* Approve spending on equipment, parts, and site maintenance
* Identify and deliver cost saving opportunities without compromising safety or quality
Ensure Effective Scheduling and Resource Planning:
* Oversee weekly staffing schedules and resource allocation
* Ensure all sites are adequately staffed to meet operational demand, including cover for holidays and absences
* Act as the escalation point for major operational issues, customer concerns, or site emergencies
Maintenance Management:
* Oversee planned and reactive maintenance for plant, vehicles, and site infrastructure
* Ensure asset registers and maintenance documentation remain accurate and up to date
Drive Operational Excellence:
* Standardise processes and procedures across all locations
* Promote best practice and continuous improvement initiatives
Ensure Environmental Compliance:
* Maintain all permits, records, and duty of care documentation
* Ensure staff follow correct waste handling, segregation, and environmental procedures
* Produce clear, accurate operational and financial reports for the Managing Director and Finance team
Skills & Requirements
* WAMITAB Level 4 qualified and holder of a CPC Manager's Certificate
* Extensive experience at General Manager or Operations Director level within waste management, recycling, logistics, or heavy industry
* Proven leadership of multi‑site operations with large teams
* Strong commercial and financial management and full budget responsibility
* In‑depth knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and best practice (NEBOSH or IOSH desirable)
* Ability to analyse data and produce accurate reports.
* Strong understanding of environmental regulations relevant to the waste sector
* Demonstrated success in driving change, improving processes, and delivering measurable results
* High level of IT proficiency, including MS Office and SAP
* Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior leaders, staff, and regulators
* 360 excavator license, HGV license and forklift licence is desirable
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel frequently between sites
