Manufacturing Engineer

The Role
An established engineering manufacturer is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support complex machining and fabrication projects within highly regulated industries, including defence, nuclear, and aerospace.
This role combines process development, technical support, and production planning, playing a key part in transitioning products from prototype through to full production while maintaining strict quality, cost, and delivery targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimise manufacturing processes for high-integrity components
- Ensure smooth transition of new and existing products from prototype to production
- Create and maintain process documentation, including route cards and work instructions
- Provide technical support to CNC machining and fabrication teams
- Support CNC programming activities and tooling selection
- Liaise with design, quality, and production teams to resolve technical issues
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across machining and fabrication cells
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and customer-specific standards
- Assist with ERP system updates and production planning activities
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in a Manufacturing Engineering role within a precision machining or fabrication environment
- Strong understanding of CAD systems, ERP systems, and production workflows
- Knowledge of milling, turning, and welding processes
- Experience working with high-performance materials such as Inconel, Titanium, or Nimonic
- Strong communication skills with a proactive problem-solving approach
Desirable
- HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
- Apprenticeship background or time-served engineering experience
