Manufacturing Engineer

Salary: Circa £50,000 per annum

Shift: Day shift

Location: Derbyshire

Contract type – Permanent


The Role

An established engineering manufacturer is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support complex machining and fabrication projects within highly regulated industries, including defence, nuclear, and aerospace.

This role combines process development, technical support, and production planning, playing a key part in transitioning products from prototype through to full production while maintaining strict quality, cost, and delivery targets.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimise manufacturing processes for high-integrity components
  • Ensure smooth transition of new and existing products from prototype to production
  • Create and maintain process documentation, including route cards and work instructions
  • Provide technical support to CNC machining and fabrication teams
  • Support CNC programming activities and tooling selection
  • Liaise with design, quality, and production teams to resolve technical issues
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across machining and fabrication cells
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and customer-specific standards
  • Assist with ERP system updates and production planning activities


Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience in a Manufacturing Engineering role within a precision machining or fabrication environment
  • Strong understanding of CAD systems, ERP systems, and production workflows
  • Knowledge of milling, turning, and welding processes
  • Experience working with high-performance materials such as Inconel, Titanium, or Nimonic
  • Strong communication skills with a proactive problem-solving approach


Desirable

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Apprenticeship background or time-served engineering experience
