Gi Group are seeking Side Loader Drivers (FLT Counterbalance) to work for our client based in New Holland (DN19), within their Dispatch department.
Our client is driven by service and people, setting high standards in product quality and operational processes. They supply market-leading multi-product solutions, including structural timber and bespoke milling services. Working hours of a Side Loader Driver:
Rotating shifts:
• 6am-2pm
• 2pm-10pm
Monday to Friday, with regular overtime available.
Location of work as a Side Loader Driver:
DN19 – Own transport is required due to location.
Contract type:
Temporary to permanent, ongoing position.
Purpose of the Role as a Side Loader Driver:
The purpose of this role is to assist in the day-to-day operations of a busy timber yard. As a Side Loader Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient loading and unloading of vehicles, maintaining stock organisation, and supporting interdepartmental communication to meet customer requirements.
Duties as a Side Loader Driver include:
• Ensuring the safe and damage-free loading and unloading of vehicles using a side loader truck.
• Moving stock to and from various areas on site.
• Picking and marshalling orders.
• Stock rotation – ensuring old and correct stocks are used to fulfil orders.
• Achieving and maintaining set loading efficiency standards in a safe manner.
• Maintaining the yard in a tidy, organised, and structured condition.
• Ensuring products are clearly labelled to support accurate offloading at customers’ sites.
• Following customer requests on loading manifests.
• Reporting any incidents and near misses.
• Promoting health and safety on-site, ensuring visitors wear the correct PPE and observe site rules.
Please note: The above list of duties is not exhaustive, and you may be required to undertake any other tasks as instructed by Management.
The successful Side Loader Driver will have:
• A valid FLT Counterbalance or Side Loader license (dated within the last 3 years).
• A team-oriented mindset.
Personal attributes of a Side Loader Driver:
• Confident, enthusiastic, approachable, and motivated.
• Energetic and flexible team member.
• Proactive, with a “can do” attitude.
• A strong sense of responsibility.
• Ability to build good working relationships.
• Capable of working on their own initiative.
