1. Which apprenticeship are you completing?

Business Administration Level 3

  1. Why did you enroll onto this apprenticsehip?

I enrolled as part of the Commonwealth Games Employment Scheme, where the role came alongside the qualification. This seemed like an excellent opportunity to gain employment while completing a qualification.

  1. How are you benefitting from being on the apprenticeship?

I am benefitting from completing this apprenticeship as I am able to gain experience of both professional work alongside additional education. It has also allowed me to gain an additional social group within the organisation as we are all in the same boat. Finally, being an apprentice at Birmingham 2022 allows me to get involved in opportunities that I wouldn’t otherwise receive, this includes networking and connecting with other stakeholders both internally and externally.

  1. How are you using the knowledge, skills and behaviours obtained through your apprenticeship in your current role?

The KSB’s learnt allows me to understand how the organisation is structured and the policies and procedures in place. This makes me more aware of these aspects in a role and allows me to develop professionally in many ways.

  1. What has been your key achievement so far?

My personal favorite achievement so far is developing so much in my role and seeing things I have built be put into place. An example of this is the check-in and interview process at the Volunteer Selection Centre.

  1. What is the best thing about your apprenticeship?

The best thing about the apprenticeship is completing it alongside a great group of people. This allows us to group together to both socialize and to come together for support in both work and the apprenticeship.

  1. How do you feel the apprenticeship will help with future career development?

This apprenticeship will help me significantly in the future. This is due to a variety of reasons including experience and understanding of an organisation. This experience will make my CV stand out to future employers.

  1. What 1 piece of advice would you give someone considering enrolling onto an apprenticeship?

The advice I would give is to get as much done as soon as possible. Most roles increase in intensity the longer you spend there. Having less to do when the apprenticeship is coming to an end is really helpful! Log your off the job hours as you go – not a good task to do in bulk!
